Would never recommend this excursiuon to anyone.
The review comments below are directed at Albatros management and staff.
We read several other reviews with low scores. Albatros responses were excuses and shifting blame for the negative experience ALBATROS provided. THEY blame the travel booking place, the resort, and misinformation, anyone other than themselves.
It is up to ALBATROS to provide the correct information and to make sure their customers are treated well. No one else’s. Your fault. Gaslighting every bad review making it our fault for not understanding, makes you look worse. SUGGESTIONS:
1. Change the Albatros brochure to state any age restrictions for snorkelling.
2. Change the Albatros brochure to state not all boats have working sails.
3. Explain things when we arrive.
4. Set the expectations properly.
If you made things clear you would not have to rely on travel agencies interpreting and explaining for you.

Albatros practices False Advertising. We booked this tour though the trtavel agency at the Krystal Grand. The Albatross webpage for this tour states ages 0-65 and states snorkelling and sailing ( weather dependant). Well, when we registered, we list our age as 70 and 73. While waiting for the boat assignment the management advised us to purchase organic sunscreen so as to not damage the environment, so we did for 650Mx.
After the boat left the dock we went to get our snokelling gear and were told we could not snokel or swim off the boat because we were over 59. This was apparently due to the "harbourmaster rules" Also on the "sail" back we were motoring even tho 12 other catamarans were sails up. After the trip we queried the travel agency who said they did not know about the age limit. We then queried Albatross and get told that the travel agency should have told us. When we sent Albatros a screenshot of their webpage showing age 0-65 the response was that the travel agency or whoever sold us the trip should have told us. BTW I've looked thru many reviews here where thew standard response from Albatros is: I'm very concerned but the people who sold you should have told you. So there's no mention of yes we'll change the webpage . These guys are just falsly advertising and then passing the buck when people complain. Apparently there is a federal agency in Mexico that regulates ethic in advertising PROFECO. I will be contacting them. I do hope Albatros responds to this review. I'm very interested in their reaction to my suggestion of them changing their advertisement. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU LOOK PAST THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS.

We took the catamaran tour to Isla Mujeres on February 7, 2026. The tour was offered by the tour agency at the Krystal Graqnd in Cancun. The brochure advertised as sailing to and from the island, snorkelling on the way there off the boat, visit south and north beach, buffet lunch and open bars. When we got to the dock we were assigned to a boat and advised to use only organic sunscreen with no chemicals to avoid pollution when snorkeling.
We purchased this for 650 mx. An hour later later when we were on the boat and had left the harbour we were told that we could NOT snorkel or swim off the boat because we both were over 59 years old. So why did we get pushed to buy that sunscreen that doesn't damage the water environment when we could not go in the water. Also there was no sailing on Amazon II. We motored both ways despite 14 other cats putting up their sails. Total costs to us was around 120 US$ x 2 plus the sunscreen at 650 MX. The sunscreen had to be disposed of as the bottle was over 100 ml and could not be taken on the airplane home.
At the end of the trip I wrote out a comment about our concerns and passed it to the tour operator on the boat but have not heard anything back. We also advised our hotel travel agency at the Krystal Grand and they apparently have contacted Albatros but again there has been no response.
There is nothing on the brochure that indicates an age limitation. We feel cheated through this false advertising .
We advised Albatros of all this and the reswponse was that the tour company should have advised us of the age restriction as its on the albatros disclaimer ( fine print) and the boat we were on does no normally have sails ( even tho we saw them, maybe they are just for show).

I booked a trip on Albatros Catamaran for my birthday 18 February 2026.
From their own website, these were the expectations;
-- BUFFET: Snack (nachos, pizza, enchiladas, pasta, chicken, risotto, etc.), Tacos (cochinita, Potatoes with chorizo, fried fish, and Mexican beans), Salad bar, dressings, and dessert (fruits, gelatin, and rice pudding).
-- OPEN BAR ON BOARD: Rum, vodka, tequila, beer, water, and soft drinks.
-- FRESH WATER AND BAR AT BEACH RESTAURANT.
-- Bunk beds at beach zone
It doesn't say the snorkeling portion is a 400m open water swim.
The buffet did NOT have pizza, enchiladas, risotto... I'm not sure if there were tacos. I can tell you the food we were able to find was picked over and cold.
The "open bar" was someone coming around with a pitcher. That is not a bar.Fresh water was not bottled water, and sketchy.
Back to the start, the loading process was chaotic. None of us knew which boat we were on! We were hurried on board and told to sit in the front for safety instructions. Those instructions never came. We were told about the monument on Isla Mujares and encouraged to rent a golf cart to get there.
Then the crew gave us each a personal flotation device with no instruction on how to properly wear the vest. Once we all had one, we were told to hurry to the back of the boat. As we passed the cabin we were handed our mask and snorkel, again without instruction, and told to jump off the back. Hurried again, we had to keep up with the crew leading us in the swim. We didn't know if we were swimming to the snorkeling location, so many of us didn't look down! We were trying to keep the crew leader in site.
Back on the boat, they told us we would need to follow the crew leader to get our wristbands. We had paid our $20 dock fee but didn't know what this wristband was about. He were hustled to a storefront, again without instruction, and finally received another wristband. It said the dock fee was $10 MXN. Suspicious!
After walking through the downtown area (another awful experience), we got back on the boat for the private beach portion. We arrived to find 200-300 young people partying! There was not a single "bunk bed" or seat at the beach zone. As stated, the food was picked over and cold. The tables were all taken and the chairs were falling apart. Hardly a private beach, we went back to the dock early, along with most of our fellow sailors.
Then we were told the pick up location changed. Once again, we were hurried, down the dock, across the beach where we had just come, to another dock. On the boat, every traveler expressed their anger. The crew only said "don't blame us" and asked for tips.
The final insult was back at the starting point. The crew docked the boat but is began to drift off the dock so I couldn't safely disembark. My friend noticed and we grasped hands to pull the boat back to the dock. We helped others off without any help from your staff.
Start to finish, this was a disaster of trip.

Overall this “Sunsations” catamaran tour and day trip was a real highlight of our whole vacation. First the cons:
• We booked and chose to include the added transfers and listed our hotel. If we waited for a shuttle to pick us up we would still be waiting. I reached out the night before to confirm via WhatsApp and the company advised they were fully booked for shuttle and refunded us the extra fees. Uber ended up being cheaper.
• Upon arrival the folks at the counter couldn’t find our reservation. We kept being told to wait five minutes. Eventually it was all ironed out.
• This was my fault- bought suntan lotion about 30 minutes before we got there and it wasn’t eco-friendly. Had to purchase a 75ml for $27 USD.
• Snorkeling was cancelled due to conditions. We still had a blast though!
The boat ride was great fun. The drinks were flowing. Rum punch, blue vodka drink and tequila sunrises as well as beer. We stopped and we were all able to jump into the blue sea and float around a bit before getting to the island.
On the island we got a Bali bed and had some lunch. This lunch buffet was a real treat, everything was delicious. We elected to do the golf carts but didn’t realize we needed to sign up ahead of time. Luckily another group backed out so we were able to do the golf cart tour and see the island. Very fun and great sights!
Then we came back and floated and drank a bit more before getting on our sunset ride home. Staff was fun, knowledgeable and respectful.

Driver had to change bus two times in our way back to hotel. Snorkeling tour was very unorganized. My first and definitely my last time with them

Excellent experience in the ferry and at the island. Very well organized and great hosting. They kept bringing drinks to offer while passengers were seated even. Great music and amazing food at lunch buffet. Definitely recommend! Get a better price locally from the resort. They give great deals!

?I would never use this company again. Our day was ruined by incompetence and dishonesty. ?The Boat: Check-in was too long, and the boat was overbooked with limited seating. Snorkeling was a joke—too short, overcrowded, and very little to see.
?The Island: A staff member named Frankie promised us a golf cart for the same price as the tour so we could explore solo. He made us wait for over an hour, only to tell us none were available. This was a lie; we could see plenty of carts. By then, it was too late to rent one ourselves. We felt like hostages on the beach.
?The Return: Despite it being in our package, they didn't have us on the return van list. After a supervisor finally let us board with our friends, they forced us to get off the van while already seated just to move us to another one.
?Completely unprofessional and frustrating. Save your money and take the ferry instead.

Albatros, bought via Happy Shuttle trip to Isla Mujeres was a terrible experience. First plan on a one hour ride from the Hilton in an old ,spare tire in passenger area, with little AC van. Then a 90 Minute wait for your boat under a Pergola, packed with passengers from at least 6-9 other boat groups. Then , a quick instruction to JUMP, JUMP into the ocean with no time for mask or snorkel fitting or fog spray.
No fins. Then into very rough currents with at least 5 other boat groups. I am a very good swimmer and have been on many Snorkel excursions, none as dis organized as this. Be prepared for high decibel speaker music for this entire almost 8 hour trip. A quick stop at Isal Mujerles tourist trap town of one hour, too much traffic for golf cart rentals. Then back on the boat to another "north" point Tourist trap town for a Mexican buffet that wasn't even Taco Bell average. Now back to the Marina, the crew the entire time refilling passengers with watered down drinks and Beer and wait for it... The CREW WAS drinking on the way back as well, many of us could see them. Then back on the old van, if you can find it, some could not for a ride back to the hotel. Left at 8:20 Am, back at 6:20PM!! Van, wait time equaled 3 1/2 hours. 45 mins in the water and 2 1/2 hours at tourist traps. PRICELESS!

do not recommend this company they are not honest they stole our luggage we had to contact the police and the guide was a drug addict. they threatened us that if we complained to the police they would report us for drunk driving

Fantastic experience. Crew was incredible.
So hospitable and ensured everyone was having a great time all time.
Full day experience. Snorkeling stop was a bit short but both teenagers (15 and 18) have validated that this was a great day.
Including a happy birthday sombrero tequila celebration on the sunset cruise back to cancun.
Highly recommend especially based on the crew!!

After paying, travelling to the beach, and about to embark, we are told, there will be no snorkling today. We were "upsold" 100USD for "better" food. There was no food onboard and the not-so-good food we ate on the beach was the same food offered to people who did not pay extra. After lunch, we were offered the use of golf-carts.
When we returned the carts, we were told we had to pay 165USD for using the carts. We didn't bring enough cash and we didn't bring any cards. We told the captain, we would need to pay the driver once we reach the hotel. The captain refused. The captain refused to believe my wife didn't speak Spanish. He also insisted we were lying when we told him none of us have "Apple pay". The captain followed us unto our bus and told the driver not to take us back to the hotel because we refused to pay him. The company was called Albatrosse; The captain's boat was called Marathon. What a nightmare!

Awful waste of time…4 of us arrived with vouchers for a sail and snorkel. Once onboard we were told that due to “Mexican law” we could not snorkel due to our age. Two of us are 59 and 2 of us are 60 - one of the 60 year olds is a scuba diver! Our vouchers said age range was 8-60 so not sure why it was a problem.
We are experienced snorkelers and arrived with our own equipment. Note they are so lax they don’t even provide fins! One of the crew became very agitated and borderline aggressive. Of course he knew he was lying about this being a Mexican law. They checked our id at the desk so not sure why they waited until we were onboard to tell us. Choose any other operation- these guys are not worth your time or money.

We were given this trip as part of a promotion for attending a Secrets sales presentation. There were 4 of is in our group, 2 were 60 years old and 2 were 59. Our IDs were checked when the reservations were made by the Secrets Concierge and at check-in. Then we got on the catamaran and were told we were too old to snorkle because we were 60 years old! Double checking the marketing materials, they said water activities are ok for ages 8-60. They didn't care about that and even lied to us telling us it was a Mexico law (which we quickly verified was a total lie). Since they would not allow us to snorkle, we got off the boat. We wasted a half day of our vacation on these losers.

Been today on the catamaran from Cancun think it was called manuel 4 , to Isla Mujeres , it was fantastic , the staff were extremely helpful and constantly coming around offering drinks and making us all feel welcome and informed about everything , they made it clear there emphasis was on safety while making it fun and the most enjoyable day ov our holiday , if we come back we will 100 percent be doing this again as it was really good

had such a fun day on the boat to the islands, had a nice dip in the sea then we danced the whole way back to the hotel on the boat, met some amazing people, the guys on the boat are such gentleman and make you feel so safe especially being 2 lone females!

We purchased our tickets to the platinum trip through our hotel for a discount and some external costs included. The brochure listed the following: Priority check in; Coffee break in boarding lounge and welcome a board mimosa; sailing in a luxury catamaran; snorkelling; Premium open bar; Exclusive restaurant AMAZONA beach club; Cocktail bar; Premium grill lunch buffet; Balinese sunbeds; Live DJ; Kajaking and paddle board; Isla Mujeres downtown visit.
Being picked up at the hotel was great!
At the dock, there was quite a wait before check in and boarding and no time for coffee nor was any mimosa seen?
The group was large, maybe fifty? The catamaran, Amazonas II, was big enough however it was more akin to a party cruise (ferry?) than a sail through the gulf (in fact no sailing at all). If you want to dance and drink poorly mixed alcohol, you are going to have a lot of fun.
Snorkelling was fine but the groups are really large and get ready to be herded.
The first stop was at the beach club in the middle of the island. If you rather not spend another 65(maybe 55?)usd on a golf cart, you lie in the sun at the beach, which is really small. So is the available piece of ocean sectioned off for swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding.
As part of the package was to be a barbecue buffet, in our experience, however it lacked any traces of barbecue, but if you like steamed hotdogs you are in luck.
The bar and drinks at the beach club were quite good, but a grill lunch buffet without anything grilled is as depressing as it sounds.
Final part of the trip went to downtown. We had between one and one and a half hour to explore, which felt enough for some minor shopping.
My main problem with the trip is that it felt entirely geared towards drunk tourists looking to become more wasted. Mandala is a better beach, our hotel has better food, and our hotel bar has better drinks, and I bet that is true for your hotel too. The souvenirs you can get elsewhere, and we didn’t even raise sail, so save your money it is not worth it - unless you desire to get wasted on a ferry to really really loud music, then enjoy.

Review of Isla Mujeres Tour with Albatross Company.
We joined the Isla Mujeres tour with Albatross Company on September 1, 2025, and unfortunately, we cannot recommend this tour to others. What was promised and what we experienced were very different, leaving us disappointed and feeling that our time and money were wasted.
1. Check-in and Boarding
Upon arrival at the Albatross pier in Cancún, we spent nearly 30 minutes in line under the hot sun just to check in. There were no proper facilities for changing or bathrooms — only dirty, unacceptable conditions. Boarding the catamaran Amazona 2 took additional time, and many passengers were left waiting under direct sunlight with no shade.
2. Snorkeling Experience
Snorkeling was supposed to be a highlight, but it was poorly organized and unsafe. While equipment was provided, fins were withheld from guests but worn by staff. Customers were rushed through the swim toward the underwater museum, pressured by crew shouting commands. Many were unprepared, some had to be rescued, and most didn’t even have time to enjoy the sculptures.
3. Shopping Stop
Instead of extra beach time, we were forced into a long shopping stop. This felt like wasted hours that could have been better spent enjoying the sea.
4. Beach Club and Lunch
The Beach Club experience was extremely disappointing. The food was of poor quality, seating was inadequate, and many guests were left eating on the ground or waiting for tables. There were no beach chairs available, no proper shade, and the water was dirty — nothing like the clean, relaxing beach that was advertised. We even had to pay extra at a neighboring beach just to get basic seating and shade.
5. Return Trip and Tipping Pressure
On the way back, the crew pressured guests into tipping, walking around with a box and standing over passengers until they paid. This was highly unprofessional and unacceptable.
Conclusion
This tour was not what was promised by MTS or Albatross Company. From poor organization and unsafe practices to false advertising about the beach and facilities, it was one of the most disappointing travel experiences we’ve ever had. We strongly recommend avoiding this tour if you value your time, comfort, and money.
joannanewlands2017
We booked this tour through Nexus tours within our holiday resort.
Our sailing was booked for 12 in the afternoon, We were picked up around 10am and arrived at the marina around 45/50 mins later. There was a long wait for other passengers to come and for us to set sail in the hot weather.
There was no update that we were waiting on further passengers, When it got to 11:45am I had to ask a member of staff what was going on and then we were advised we were waiting for further passengers. Better communication to the guests would have been good here.
The arrival into the Marina was quite intimidating, It was only myself my husband and my 13yo son who had arrived first, straight away there are a lot of staff around you, it felt a bit much. Once you pay your water tax and get your boarding pass for the boat, The guys are on you straight away to check your sun cream and ensure it's safe for marine life... I think this is a con to get you to buy sun cream from them at whatever price they want to charge you... No prices on the sun cream. We did check our sun cream as requested and it didn't have the chemicals in the cream that weren't allowed so we managed to swerve this robbing, We did purchase a waterproof phone case as I forgot to bring ours, this again had no price and cost roughly £22 in English money. Then they move on to sell you hats if you don't have them and motion sickness bands. this was all within stepping foot into the marina. Its very intense.
There was then an hours wait in the waiting area for the next guests to arrive, We luckily had water with us however there is a shop set up that has chargeable drinks and snacks if required.
Once on the catamaran the staff were very attentive and welcoming, We were welcomed on with a welcome drink which was nice and advised to sit at the front of the boat for the best view, We were lucky the sailing we picked only had 3 other families and ours, there was plenty of space to move around the boat and enjoy the views. Drinks were topped up often and a selection of drinks and cocktails which was great.
The snorkelling could be explained better, I did feel it was here is your life jacket and snorkel and jump in! We as a family have never snorkelled before and would have appreciated a brief demonstration how to use the snorkel properly, My son was a bit panicked at the beginning as it was literally "jump in" but once we worked out how to use the snorkel while in the sea it was fine. We did see some fish and the underground water museum which was fantastic, I would have liked the snorkelling to last a bit longer as we felt we had just got used to the equipment and it was time to come back on the boat.
The sea is beautiful and so clear, my son saw a sea turtle while on the boat he was delighted! We then got to the beach club which on arrival walking down is beautiful. Once we arrived at the beach club we were shown to a table and a drinks order taken straight away, We were also shown around the buffet and each dish explained to us which was great service! The food was average buffet style but decent enough, The drinks were good and strong. The bathrooms weren't the best.
We were asked on the boat by the staff prior to arriving at the beach club if we wanted to hire the golf carts through them which was a cost of $55 dollars this included a member of staff taking you round the island and showing you tourist points of the island, we opted for this as we wanted the guided tour and to know where to go and to get good stop points for photographs, we had been advised independently that you can get a buggy off the boat by yourself which is around $35 but would not include the guided tour.
We paid the $ on the boat by card and it wasn't until we were back at our resort we realised we were actually charged $65, $10 extra which is not great service overcharging tourists... Please ensure you check the amount on the card reader if you choose to book the golf buggy from the staff on the boat, We were very disappointed by this.
You are then back on the catamaran and taken north of the island where you have two hours free time to explore, The beach is lined with beach bars which to sit at you need to buy drinks which we felt were expensive... The shops are all selling expensive junk, no prices and ludicrous even when you start to haggle, I didn't have the energy for the rudeness of the prices they were trying to charge... My son wanted a fake football top and it started off at £120 English money down to £55 safe to say we didn't buy as you can get the real strips for this price.
Tequila prices were also ludicrous, no prices and verbally went from £80 upwards which again stopped us buying.. its cheaper in duty free.
I personally would have enjoyed more time snorkelling and at the beach club rather than at the north of the island where I felt it was like walking into a pack of wolves trying to get what they could from the tourists... Also watch out for the men on the street who see your All Inclusive wrist band and say they are the waiter from your hotel and its their day off and working at the family business again trying to get you into their shop to rip you off which really got my back up.
There is a 7 Eleven shop there which has Mexico shot glasses and some tourist bits in it you could purchase which is price marked and reasonable.
We did enjoy the experience even with the couple of downsides it wouldn't put us off doing this again, it was a good experience but just be vigilant of the prices you are being told and what you are being charged.

Our transport was bang on time. We needed to pick up 2 other couples. The first we had to wait for about 15minutes. A bit frustrating. The 2nd were ready and waiting which was great. We got to the Catamaran dock around 8.30/8.45am. it's was stifling hot by then.
We all had to join a queue and present our tickets. We were each provided a rep who discussed specific sun cream you needed which had to be environmentally friendly, no chemicals. Take a children's one, we did and were fine otherwise you have to purchase theirs. Take a waterproof phone cover. You will be sold this too. Including hats and any other beach/boat trip requirement. Including a mosquito repellent bracelet. The boats only leave around 10am so be prepared for a wait. We weren't actually told a time but would have been nice to so that expectations are set. At embankment onto the boat you take a photo with someone dressed up as a bird. This will cost you around £8. The ride out was beautiful. You stop in the ocean for about 20min snorkeling. The reef isn't brilliant and hardly any fish which is quite sad to see however preservation has started and it will take a while to get coral back and thriving. A shame to see our planets oceans destroyed. Just before arriving on the island, you are given the option of hiring a golf buggy. It's around $50. I recommend doing it. It splits up the journey. You get to see the island and it's fun. Otherwise you're mostly stuck at a rather small dirty water beach. It's pleasant enough for about an hour but you'll be ready to go back home after this. Most tours can be purchased with an all inclusive option. The buffet isn't very good at all. I wouldn't repeat that option. However I know you need to eat so you're caught between a bad cheaper option or a pricier possibly nicer option around the town. The island high street is filled with tourist shops. They are very expensive. Most things are ticketed in some of the shops but others are around bargaining, so know your prices. After a few hours you return back on your Catamaran and await your pick up. Unfortunately ours was late by about 25min. Overall the staff and service are great. The trip was a nice day out. I wasn't a huge fan of the area we docked. I'm sure there are much better beaches. The service was great though and staff really good. The cost of the round trip plus food and soft drink and beer was $80 per adult and $50 for children. So cost $260. If you make your way to Cancun and buy a ferry ticket it'll cost you a fraction of this so there are other options.
etienne_TP
Even though Chimichanga and his crew are wonderful people and the organization is well managed, this activity did not meet my minimum price vs. fun expectations. Spending only 12 minutes snorkeling on a 7-hour trip was disappointing. Having more than 110 people on the same catamaran at $100 each feels like a lot of money for very little enjoyment.
The Isla Mujeres beach club is below the standard of any resort when it comes to drinks, food, showers, and toilets. The staff is friendly, but the beach itself is no better than Cancun’s. The DJ at the beach club was definitely the best part of the whole trip.
You get 60 minutes at Playa Norte, but honestly, you don’t want to go there. It’s overcrowded, full of vendors and garbage, and lined with souvenir shops just like Cancun or anywhere else. It feels like you’re only brought there because the catamaran needs time to pick up another group.
Next time, I would rather just take the ferry to Isla Mujeres and skip the overpriced catamaran experience, even if the staff was nice.

Everyone who worked on this crew was great, except the leader, Chimichanga. He was quite abrasive, yelled at us like a drill instructor, and lied about the age limits of the snorkeling trip, preventing 2 of our family members from being able to snorkel. If we had known, we would not have booked this particular trip.
We usually snorkel as a group on other trips and have not encountered this limitation before. They claim it is a federal law, but were unable to cite the specific law. They told another group the age was 55 and told us it was 60. The private beach was small and very cozy (too many people booked for such a small space) but the service and food were great. The time at each spot might be adjusted to allow more time in town. Tho we were on a catamaran, we never sailed. We booked a sailing snorkeling trip, but some of us didnt get to snorkel and none of us got to sail. I would never book with them again. Take a trip to Garafon and enjoy the reef, beach, water sports and hospitality there instead.

Amazing experience from booking to set up to sail away to safe return. Attention to customer service was amazing, ofcourse tons of ad ons but definitely worth it from the platinum package to the photos. Mauricio and all the crew of Manuel 4 were top tier. Definitely loved everything.

We booked this trip with the understanding that we would be able to snorkel. There were many opportunities in the sign-up process to be informed that they had a policy of not allowing anyone over 60 years old to participate in snorkeling. After the boat had left the dock , it was then that we were informed that it was a federal law that anyone over 60 was not allowed to participate in snorkeling activities.
Upon research, I have determined that this was a lie.
If this was indeed a federal law, then I’m assuming all of the passengers on the hundreds of cruise ships that come into Cozumel over the age of 60 are not eligible to snorkel in Mexico?
This set the tone for the entire trip as snorkeling was the one thing that was important to me. I’ve spent my life on the water, I am in good health, swim regularly and surf.
I felt duped. I feel like I purchased a goods and service that was not delivered. If the company is not forthcoming about this rule beforehand, I will do my upmost to inform everybody I know about this issue.

Since Albatros is the Marketing leg for the Garza Blanca (timeshare/residence club) resort and the catamaran tour company (Albatros Catamarans) to Isla Majeures, I'm leaving my review of them and their associates here.
If you value honesty, transparency, and control over your vacation, steer clear of Albatros Marketing in Plaza la Isla Cancun. What’s advertised as a free breakfast and catamaran tour of snorkeling, drinks, and food at Isla Majeures, is little more than a bait-and-switch wrapped in high-pressure sales and unmet promises.
- False Promises: We were lured by offers of a free breakfast and a relaxing catamaran tour. This rep even showed us pictures of what the breakfast would look like...not at all what we experienced.
- Aggressive Sales: Instead, we endured over two hours of relentless promotion and upselling for the Garza Blanca timeshare/residence club resort
- Hidden Costs: Although they got us to the resort rather quickly (still about a 30-min drive); getting us back to the resort was a nightmare - waiting nearly an hour for transportation (which was included) to take us back to our resort. Their delay forced us to pay an unexpected $50 taxi fare.
- Unsafe Snorkeling: On the catamaran (via Albatros Catamarans) No instructions provided; one overwhelmed swim guide for 40+ people.
- Laughable Lunch: The advertised included meal on Isla Majeures consisted of basic tacos and hotdogs, yes, hotdogs!
—definitely not the tropical getaway we imagined.
- Island Transport: Old, fume-filled golf carts ruined the scenic vibe of Isla Mujeres. The golf carts do not appear to be well-maintained.
- No Follow-Up: The Albatros rep promised to address our concerns but never followed up.
Final Thoughts: Albatros employs a classic bait-and-switch operation: attractive perks up front, then aggressive tactics and optional “expenses” that stack up quickly. Everything is technically voluntary, but the environment is manipulative and designed to make you feel obligated. Once you’re in, it’s difficult to disengage without consequences. Protect your time, your wallet, and your peace of mind.
- Better Option: A public ferry and DIY exploration would’ve been far more enjoyable.

It's always great to be in the water and Cancun offers great views. But there were a couple of issues in our trip that really ruined the experience for us. The water in the reef was choppy and they didn't provide fins to help people navigate the waters. One of our mask kept getting loose while in the water. The process was very hectic, stressful and unorganized. The beach at the Albatross Beach was full of rocks and seaweed, making it hard to enjoy with children. One hour at the town is not enough to do anything productive and the loading process back into the catamaran (just like in the Albatros Beach) was very stressful.

The crew was friendly and timely. My fiancé and myself participated in snorkeling and were able to see lots of ocean life. The food was tasty, delicious, and hot. The drinks were a little bland. Bathrooms on the boat and island were very clean.

There was a group of 4 from Sun Palace on July 12. When we went snorkeling, I took off my Apple Watch and put it in my bag. I didn’t realize that my watch was gone until I returned back to the resort.
Two days later, my watch appeared on “Find My Device” in an area of Cancun called Los Corales Plus, a neighborhood in Cancun.
I have made a police report and am contacting the resort, since we booked through Palace.
Buyer BEWARE!

We were on the Monte Cristo, and we had a great experience! The staff was so attentive! It was raining, but they were so helpful in guiding our family through the choppy waters. I felt safe every step of the way! The golf cart tour was so entertaining, and our whole family enjoyed it throughly!
At the beach club , Jose (the bald one), was so kind and helpful in teaching our family Spanish. His service was amazing.
I highly recommend booking through Albatros!

not only was the whole trip so fun with fantastic service, yummy food and drinks, and cautious tour guides, Gustavo went above and beyond with his crew to recover my phone from Island de Mujeres when i left it to die in a bathroom somewhere. I highly highly recommend. he said, “one rule on this boat. only text this number for emergencies only, it’s my day off tomorrow”. then he proceeded to use his whole day to get my phone back to me!!!

Wow!! What a great start to my BDay week! Shout out to the ATLANTIS IV crew for a memorable and fun excursion! Absolutely recommend Albatross but more so the A-IV catamaran!

We went with our young children and my parents. Overall it was enjoyable and a memorable day! But a few major things that could be improved. First, we were told upon booking that the catamaran would have 35 people. There were actually about 80 people, and we were told once we were on the catamaran that it seats 90 people. We were almost last to arrive, just by chance with our transportation, so we struggled to find a seat with our kids and ended up being in the sun and not the shade for a good portion of the trip.
Second, we were told it was about a 30 minute drive from our hotel, but we had to pick up people from other resorts, making the drive to and from the dock closer to an hour. Third, the check-in process once at the dock was all manual for nearly 100 people and took a pretty long time where there was nothing for kids to do and not very many places to sit.
The boat ride was fun, snorkel was fine but not a ton to see just the statues and a few fish. A lot of other boats with other people in the same area. The staff on the boat were very friendly and made things lively and fun even for kids. Chimichanga and the rest of the staff were great! Playa Norte was absolutely beautiful although I wish we could have stayed longer, we stayed about 45 minutes. The private beach club was fun, food was good, calm water and nice little beach. Golf cart trip had a couple good stops with breathtaking cliff and ocean views but for our kids we probably would have picked to stay at Playa Norte or the beach club longer instead. Our kids were very tired at the end but it was worth it to break up a long Mexico trip and spend some time on the pristine island beaches! Wish the whole thing could be shortened by about 2 hours with less people on the boat.

Amazing experience with a fully dedicated team!
The views were stunning, the boat was in perfect condition, and the crew was extremely helpful.
My mom is disabled, and they treated her with great care and attention.
A big thank you to Damian, Isidro, and the rest of the team.
What a great experience!

This was by far the best day we've had of our 13 days in Mexico.
The staff on the catamaran are absolutely amazing!! They include everyone and make sure you are all having a great time. Drinks flow throughout and if they see you with an empty glass, they are straight over to offer another!
The time on Isla mujeres was absolutely amazing and the golf buggy hire to drive around the island, made it more unforgettable.
I couldn't recommend this trip enough to anyone who is coming to Cancun.
Thank you Albatros!

We booked the platinum tour through our hotel to help celebrate my birthday. Most of day went well until end when we were left stranded on island as foreign travelers! We were left to scramble back to Cancun on another boat and then catch uber to our hotel. Needless to say, we were very traumatized and upset about experience. I am an experienced traveler and have participated in many excursions before this. I have NEVER been left behind!
The worst part was the lack of remorse on behalf of the company. They responded to our hotel concierge with a list of names of people on the boat as if that justified leaving us! Also, they blamed us for not being there on time. Of note, we were sitting in open area at beach club right in front of dock. Our guide walked past us calling our boat name just minutes before we walked on pier and saw our boat pulling away.
If you want to go to Isla Mujeres, please book a ferry or with another company.
bridys2016
Terrible experience 0/10. I’ve taken many excursions all over carribean and Hawaii, this is the worst, most disorganized over sold, they lie to you and tell you it’s 30 people it’s well over 100. They try and sell you sunscreen for coral reef no one polices that also some of the boats are black cloud smoke they don’t care. Liquor is horrible which I expected, but their organization of the whole trip was fend for yourself and hope you can figure out where they are at all times.
They sold us a golf cart on the tour and left without us, even though we were in the area at the time they said to be there. No one called for us, meanwhile the other boat was scouring the area for their golf cart renters.

Amazing excursion! We really enjoyed the snorkeling, and the beach club was amazing-wish we would have stayed longer! The beach club had the most amazing food. The boat crew was so nice, and we really enjoyed the tour and time around Isla Mujeres.

snokaling was more like a 20 min survival swim in open water. The pushed sunscreen the second you get there and hats. They make it sound like you get 3 hours to explore island on golf cart. turns out for $55 USD you get a short lap to south of island and your back before an hour is up for the next group. been island several times. 65 bucks gets you a cart all day and 23 bucks for ferry round trip… Took off from “guided tour and they threatened to charge us 55 bucks for extra hour.. not worth it unless you like feeling like tourist cattle. take shuttle to island and rent own cart and spend 1/2 the priceZ

Our day was so great. There are a lot of these tours by many different companies but I highly recommend the platinum tour with Albatros. First we booked it with transport from our hotel.
The bus was crowded but we got there safely and without worry. There was a bit of a line to check in but because we booked the platinum someone brought us right to the front and checked us in without waiting. We were also given a slip for our return transport back to the hotel which really put our mind at ease that we’d be returned safely back to our hotel. The snorkeling portion was short and not so great. The water was too rough for us. So if you’re going specifically for snorkeling I’d book a tour more geared towards that and in a better snorkel location. We stopped on the north end of island mujeres and that was crowded with all the vendors etc. not really our vibe but interesting. We preferred the south end with the beach club. Lunch was buffet. It was fantastic and included drinks. Then we did the golf cart tour. We went as a group so felt very safe and comfortable. It was $55 for the 2 of us. We went to the southern point and walked around a bit. Beautiful views and a few vendors. We bought ice cream. Then after the golf cart tour we had about an hour to hang out at the beach club before getting back on the boat. There is a professional photographer on the trip. At first I didn’t think we’d use him but ended up buying a few photos because we liked them. It was nice to have the option. All the while on the boat there are drinks if you want them. Or just bottled water. There is a bathroom too which is nice. Another item to note - when you’re in line they try to sell you things like seasick bracelets and environmentally friendly sunscreen. If you’re worried about these things I’d bring them with you. The crew was young and friendly. It was a great day!

The crew was fantastic and did a great job. The location for the snorkeling was ok, but they kept us close together so it was work to keep from bumping into the other people. The stop at the island was nice and the staff on the island were very attentive. The downfall to the excursion was the stop for two hours near Playa del Norte where we had to walk through a gift shop to get to the street and they were very aggressive in trying to get you to look at the merchandise. The surrounding area was nothing but cheap gift shops with aggressive sells people…we kept hearing that they knew us because they were the waiter at our resort pool bar. A total waste of two hours.

my elderly mom. Great experience, highly recommend. The island is beautiful. Recommend if you are going, take the golf cart tour around the island.

Some days when your stuck in reality - think about an escape? Then the island of Muerjes must be on your list. We had some teenage sons on our list who were burnt out due to their high school studies and a quick spring break was all we had on our mind.
Armed with sun hats- sun screen- sun glasses and credit cards loaded to the sky - we set sail to this beautiful island and made beautiful memories with our children. The trip itself was organized by Albatros Catamarans via Viator portal
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g150807-d1793997-Reviews-Albatros_Catamarans-Cancun_Yucatan_Peninsula.html
We were 2 families - 6 members- 3 adults and 3 children( 2 teens and 1 middle schooler)
With the early morning sun on our face and a bus ready to pick us up for the trip. Everything was all perfectly planned. With a loaded Catamaran that seated around 100 pax - free flow of alcoholic beverages and a gentle sail towards the Isla Muerjes was a joy. It was a 1.5 hour sail and amidst the travel - snorkelling session was an added delight. With caution and many life guards on board- these folks had the entire trip planned and fool proof.
As we fished out all the snorkelling members just in time , we just gently reached the shores of isle muerjes and had a sumptious mexican lunch. With juices and jellies to nachos and moles. We filled up our bellies and onto the next activity - loaded up ATV buggies that were ready to take us across the othe rpart of the island. With a guide who accompanied the entire 40 buggies - in a line we followed one after the other to the south side of the island to see the goddess ixchell. The island istself is in the shape of a small "S" .
We had only 15mins of wait time to sift through quickly and snap some pics. There is a seperate fee to see the farther end of the island which the ticket did not cover and we had to rush back to our ATV's. Drove back to the northern part of island again and in 30 mins the ferry came to pick us over to the next island.
Next stop: Shopping Island. The entire island is just a huge souvenir shopping land- with so much buy and splurge and eat. We were just jay walking and eating and window shopping. A good 1 hour was spent there and we sat down to relax and the ferry comes back to haul you back to the main island where you started the day.
Its takes about an 1 to head back home.
But the folks in the catamaran do not let you do that easy- there is drinks- celebration and songs and dance moves that you need to prove to shake that boring introvert in you. Better learn to shake your hips and hands - hey macaarennna!! Finally we hit the groove- raised a toast to the shipmates and the crew and saw the beautiful sun set amidst other stranger passengers- smiled - said hellos and byes and let go of all our worries with sea and deboarded the ferry with a heart full of memories and feet that skip to any beat now!
The organizers will have your arranged trip back home to your respective hotels. Our package was with lunch and transportation so we got picked and dropped. Make sure you have your travel plans pre arranged before you arrive for the trip.
It was a wonderful fun filled trip to the island and the sea has its own magical moments to get your rejuvenated. Make some special memories and connet with your family- children or parents! Its beyond words!

As the title said - exceeded my expectations. We booked through our hotel concierge and read some reviews before going and had mixed feelings about going. Pickup was a few minutes late at our hotel, but made it on time just fine.
At their dock - you get checked in, their staff is not pushy but is constantly showing off things you might have forgot (non-aerosol sunscreen with zinc or titanium oxide only, towels, phone water cases, etc). We came prepared and weren't overly harassed about anything.
Once checked in they loaded each of their boats, definitely a somewhat confusing process, I would strongly recommend the platinum tour over some of the others, as others looked to be way more crowded boats, and heard others who had discrepancies with whether the $20USD docking tax was paid ahead of time.
Our boat was very comfortable, and the staff was all great. Daphne was our guide and she was very energetic and fun. Carlos led us in snorkeling, which was a bit of a mess but more due to weather and wind than to his guiding. There are a few sunken statues and some bleached reef with schools of fish. My wife struggled to keep up and I had to help pull her along to stay with the group. If you are going primarily for the snorkeling you will be disappointed.
We continued on to the Albatross owned beach club near the south end of Isla Mujeres. We declined the additional golf cart tour which I think was a good choice. for $55 USD per couple, it was only an hour before returning for lunch. If you're up for the beach club vibe, that was way more fun. We had drinks, took some photos, and lounged around. Yes the beach club has loud music (which we enjoyed but some might) but unless you're sitting right in front of it, it wasn't overly loud. All food, drinks is included here, but tip for the service was the vibe.
Back on the boat and up to the north part of the island where you have 2 hours to yourself. If you want to do a self guided island golf cart tour, heres the good time to do so- rent with one of the guys on the street, cheaper than the sponsored tour at the south end. Otherwise the North side beach is the "nicer" of the beaches for swimming. It was admittedly very crowded. Shallow water good for wading, but not really for much swimming. Easy enough to walk around the northern part, no need for a golf cart unless you have limited mobility or want to venture out from the northern half of the island, but its only 5ish block walk to the furthest point north.
Boat ride home was fun and we were able to use the boats sail instead of the motor which was an extra touch. Transfer back home and were home by 6:00. Highly recommend, just plan your day accordingly with what you want to do at each stop.

I would not even give a single star. Service was so poor, Alejandro scared us from getting into water and at the end of the day he started demanding tips. I would never ever user these tours

There were hidden costs associated with this trip. An additional $20.00 per person for docking fees. The golf cart trip was also not included in the cost. Another $50.00 for the golf cart rental. The cost for this tour with the add-ons was double.

This was the Platinum Catamaran Cruise. The Crew was great, helpful, polite! The boat was in tip top shape and well maintained…can’t say a bad thing regarding either. However, the process of getting on to the catamaran was horrendous. Once we were dropped off, we stood under a palapa for an hour before boarding.
Very loud music, endless announcements regarding the kind of suntan lotion you must use (biodegradable) made it very annoying waiting to go. They board in groups, ours was last. Finally get going, stop to do a brief snorkel in the water and we were told if you are over 62, you cannot snorkel. We were not told that when we booked the trip (through MTS Global). We are 72 and 67…while we had no intentions of snorkeling, we should have known that ahead of time. We get to the island. They gave us a 1/2 hour to go see the magnificent north beach (as we walked to that beach we had to field the endless badgering for massages, and dodge vespas and golf carts (not that this is the fault of the catamaran folks). Got there, looked at the beach for all of five minutes, had to turn around and head back to the boat.
Back on the boat we are now headed to the beach club. Then came the sales pitch for the golf carts tour. First come first served as they only have 6 carts. My son-in-law was able to book one, for $55, which is not unreasonable. We get to the club and were told we had to meet at 1:50 to go on the golf club tour, it was now 1:10, so by the time we got off the boat we literally had less than 1/2 hour to walk to the buffet and wolf down some lunch, which was ok, not great, not terrible, but all the food was not even warm. Run to the carts, which have seen better days..but my 5 year old grandson loved the golf cart tour, which was fine…back to the club. Sat for an hour and headed back. The best part of the day was the trip back. The crew made it fun, with tequila shots, music and dancing, in true Mexican party fashion, then they stopped to let folks jump into the water and get on the big floating mat.
Overall, it was a good day, but it was too rushed and too much time lost standing around waiting to board/go. They need to work on that process…and turn down the music a bit…

Our family booked this excursion through our hotel, and we were very happy with the experience. Couple of downfalls were that they did sell you pretty hard on their “organic sunscreen” upon arrival and how other sunscreens aren’t allowed. Everyone else there was using their own sunscreen, so we did the same. Secondly, they sold you very hard on the boat about getting a taxi. All of the golf carts were sold out, so the host was really pushing the taxis as the best option. However our hotel representative said not to go on a taxi as they are very expensive. These are the only two downfalls for our excursion.
The trip itself was awesome. The boat was very clean, and well kept. They made you wash the sand off your feet prior to boarding which helps a ton. The staff onboard was super friendly, and accommodating. They made every effort to make sure everyone was comfortable, had drinks, etc for the trip. The boat always wasn’t crowded which is nice as well. Snorkeling was amazing. This was my kids favorite part of the whole entire trip. The swimming opportunity they gave us as well was super cool.
Very pleased with this excursion and very pleased with their staff. Highly recommend!

Our group had high hopes for a fantastic day with this tour group. I would suggest that you look at another option.
To begin with when we arrived we were told that we had to upgrade our package to include drinks and water on Isla Mujeres or we would be charged per drink. Fine. Did that. Then we were taken to a waiting area where they sell you towels, etc. This lovely spot is located directly next to the beach for Temptation resort.
Kinda awkward sitting there if you are with kids... Once we got on the catamaran, drinks only start after the snorkeling begins. I have done other snorkeling tours and the boat waits while you snorkel so you can get on or off if needed. Not this one. We were told once away, that the boat drops you off, sails away, and you have to swim 400m back to the boat. Too bad, we were really looking forward to that part. No way I was willing to do that part with no boat. They bring you to a shopping destination first with 1 hour to explore, and then back to the boat to the final stop with drinks and buffet. If you are expecting a nice beautiful beach and swimming, think again. It is a marina stop, the water is shallow in the swimming area, smells bad, and the sand in the water is more of a silt or clay. Not the beach you imagine...
